-Diorama – “The Junkyard”-
Built by Marc Methot
I built the scrap yard because that’s where you become a little kid searching through junk to find something that would be treasure to you. I had a box of Hot Wheels that were all bit up from when I was a kid and always wanted to build a scrap yard.
First I started with the base, a piece of plexi-glass and painted it flat black. As for the fence, I took H.O. train railway tracks and painted them flat brown. I cut and glued them surrounding the plexi-glass. Gravel, dirt and sand are from H.O. scale landscaping that I had picked up from my nearest hobby shop.
You will notice little details such as, the coke machine, motorcycle from an actual Hot Wheels, car parts rack, the torch in the back bed of the old pickup truck and the garage that I had built from nothing. Just pieces of plastic I found, with a few extras and if you notice the 1940 ford Hot Wheels in the garage on a hoist ready to be customized. Not all the cars are Hot Wheels, but there are 15 that you would have to guess which ones they are. Each car was detailed inside and out with the best realistic damage I could possibly do.
Last, but not least, I have parked out front in the parking lot, a few of my customs owned and built by the scrap yard owner himself – LOL! Hope you enjoyed the pictures and all the hard work creating this scrap yard.
Thanks for this great contribution Marc!
